This department also develops corporate learning pathways and career development strategies to improve individual and organization effectiveness, culture and engagement.
Diversity, Development & Sustainable Communities
Diversity, Development & Sustainable Communities leads SMUD’s work to embed diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in everything we do – internally and externally. This team develops and implements strategies to establish SMUD as a diverse and inclusive employer and positions SMUD as a key player in the community to achieve equity for those it serves. The department also drives cultural change within SMUD to ensure our workforce is representative of the diverse communities we serve and has a workplace that celebrates and leverages differences. This team spearheads programs and initiatives to create a work environment in which every employee feels valued and engaged, has a high level of trust and is comfortable bringing their whole authentic self to work. By creating innovative public and private partnerships, the team also helps close the disparity gap through the implementation of environmental equity, economic vitality, mobility access and social well-being programs to all communities in our service area, with special attention given to historically under-resourced neighborhoods.
Facilities, Security, & Emergency Operations
This is a multifunctional department supporting the needs of SMUD’s business units. It manages major development projects, including building and maintaining SMUD facilities, delivering the mail and providing reprographic and printing services.
