Curry Creek Solar Project
To help maintain grid reliability and resilience, we’re proposing a solar and battery energy storage project connected to our electric grid to provide clean, renewable energy that aligns with our 2030 Zero Carbon Plan.
Project benefits
The Curry Creek Solar Project adds to our diverse clean energy portfolio, improves local air quality and delivers a reliable long-term supply of solar and battery storage improving the resilience of our electric grid.
The project will also:
-
Provide enough zero carbon electricity to power more than 40,000 homes a year - equal to taking more than 12,000 cars off the road annually.
-
Contribute more than 400 jobs and more than $58 million to the Placer County local economy during the construction phase.
-
Once operational, contribute more than $1.4 million to the Placer County local economy and $3.4 million statewide each year.
-
Deliver additional statewide benefits including more than 1,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs and more than $165 million to the state economy during construction.
Activities and location
We would develop the proposed site on up to 680 acres of land in southwestern Placer County just west of the City of Roseville, north of Baseline Road and east of Country Acres Lane. The project is adjacent to our Country Acres Solar Project currently under development.
In addition to a photovoltaic (PV) solar power and battery storage facility, the project would include a generation substation and interconnection to our electric grid. At the end of the project’s life (anticipated to be 30-35 years), we would decommission the site.
Timeline
Construction is expected to begin in 2027 with plans to be operational in late 2028.
