SMUD Vendor Portal

We publish all solicitations in our Vendor Portal, hosted by PlanetBids. The portal offers a secure, user-friendly platform for managing bid participation and staying informed about our procurement activities.

Registering in our Vendor Portal

Vendors can access bid opportunities by registering a free profile in the portal. Registration allows vendors to search and view current solicitations, download documents at no cost, manage their profile and receive automatic email notifications for relevant opportunities based on selected category codes.

Applying for SEED eligibility

After registering, vendors can also see if they qualify for SEED eligibility. The SEED (Supplier Education and Economic Development) program offers incentives to local small businesses that participate in SMUD's competitive bid process. 

To complete your vendor registration, please follow the steps below or download the PlanetBids supplier registration instructions.

Instructions to create a free vendor profile: 

  1. Go to the SMUD Vendor Portal.
  2. Click Vendor Registration.
  3. Fill out the following initial fields:
    • Company Name
    • FEI/SSN
    • Email
  4. Click Sign-up. You'll receive a verification email. Click the verification link to proceed to the Vendor registration form.
  5. Complete the Vendor registration form. Be sure to add your business’s category codes to receive automatic bid alert emails.
  6. Submit your vendor registration details.

Apply for SEED certification (optional):

  1. Click SEED Certification in your vendor profile.
  2. Complete all the SEED application fields.
  3. Check the box under Certify and click Submit.
