Planning for a clean energy future
Our Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) guides our long-term decisions about power generation, reliability, affordability and customer programs. Our 2030 Zero Carbon Plan, adopted in 2021, is our current IRP and we’re due to file a new IRP in September 2027. Despite facing the headwinds of rising resource costs, regulatory challenges and other shifting conditions, our progress towards a clean energy future is significant and our commitment to decarbonization remains firm.

Awards & recognition
SMUD was the first utility to receive certification and earn a J.D. Power Certified Sustainability Leader designation. The program recognizes electric utilities that provide superior customer engagement, awareness and advocacy for its climate sustainability goals and plans to address climate change.
