MOSAC ticket program
We're excited to offer free tickets to the SMUD Museum of Science & Curiosity (MOSAC) for community groups and schools serving elementary-age kids.
The MOSAC Ticket Distribution Program is a new opportunity for 2027.
If you work with kids in Sacramento and want to spark their love for science, technology and art, you can apply for tickets to explore our hands-on museum.
Our goal is simple: inspire students, especially those from underserved communities, to discover the joy of learning through fun, interactive exhibits.

About MOSAC
We’re a proud sponsor of MOSAC since it opened in 2021 because we care about helping young people discover science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). Located in Sacramento, MOSAC is a large, 50,000-square-foot museum with hands-on exhibits focused on space, nature, water, energy and more.
Ticket Distribution Program details
You can apply for up to 40 free general admission tickets from Sept. 1 to Nov. 1. Tickets are limited, so be sure your application includes details about your group’s need and how tickets will be used.
We’ll send you an email by Nov. 30 to let you know if we're able to fulfill your request. If selected, you must pick up your tickets at our Customer Service Center before Dec. 31, 2026 (exact instructions will be in your approval email).
Please note:
- General admission tickets are valid through the end of 2027.
- You must notify MOSAC ahead of time for groups with 15 or more students or to request use of special areas like the Multiverse Theater.

Program FAQs
- Schools or education programs officially recognized by a local education authority (LEA) or the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) who are located in our service area.
- Community organizations that are 501(c)3 charities or 509(a) public charities or private foundations that serve the SMUD area.
- Political or lobbying organizations
- Religious-focused groups
- Organizations that discriminate by race, color, sex or other protected characteristics
- Individual sports teams
The following groups are more likely to be selected:
- Groups serving elementary-aged children
- Groups with a clear need for tickets
- First-time applicants to this program
- Tickets must be given fairly to students in your program.
- You can’t resell the tickets.
- Tickets can’t be used for awards, raffles or fundraising prizes.
- Tickets can only be used by the organization that was awarded. They can’t be passed to another group.
After you submit an application, we’ll send an email confirming your application submission. In November, our team will notify you about the status of your application.
If approved, you'll receive an in-kind sponsorship offer via email. You must pick up tickets from our Customer Service Center during normal business hours before Dec. 31, 2026. We'll invite you to share your opinion in a post-event feedback survey.

MOSAC proudly participates in the Museums for All initiative, a program by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This program ensures that quality museum experiences are accessible to all, particularly underserved communities. By presenting an EBT card, individuals or groups of up to 4 participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can access the museum free of charge. This initiative breaks down barriers to accessing STEM education and solidifies the importance of museums as hubs of creativity, lifelong learning and community building.
