Employee giving and volunteering
SMUD Cares
We’re proud to be part of this community and are committed to giving back through employee giving and volunteerism. Our SMUD Cares program supports our employees in giving back to the community. Every year, they volunteer thousands of hours through events and serve on various boards. They also donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to causes important to them.
Request SMUD volunteers
We receive a high volume of volunteer requests each year from local nonprofits. Requests are more likely to succeed if they meet the criteria below. If you don’t meet all criteria, you may still submit your request for consideration.

- More than 60 days from now

Board service
We encourage our employees to support nonprofit partners in the community where they work and live. SMUD Cares matches employees who wish to serve on a nonprofit board with organizations that can benefit from their skills and interests. If your nonprofit is seeking new board members, please email smudcares@smud.org to share your recruitment qualifications that we may reference as we assist with matching employees.

Employee giving
Our employees participate in an annual employee giving campaign to support the causes they care about. SMUD Cares holds fundraisers and deploys internal campaigns year-round to encourage giving. As a result, our employees give hundreds of thousands of dollars to local organizations near and dear to their hearts.
