SMUD discusses benefits of decarbonization through STEM activities with Pacific Elementary journalism students
SMUD will discuss its 2030 Zero Carbon Plan and demonstrate hands-on STEM activities with Pacific Elementary School in south Sacramento. During this interactive session, students, including a journalism club, will learn about the health, environmental and economic benefits of SMUD’s work to eliminate carbon from the region’s power supply.

Students will learn about a variety of energy-related topics, such as renewable energy, STEM concepts, home energy efficiency and other advanced energy concepts. They will also participate in hands-on activities. Activities will engage students in topics and technologies that are central to SMUD’s Clean Energy Vision, which will remove carbon emissions from the region’s power supply by 2030.
Following the presentations and activities, student journalists with Pacific Elementary’s Pump Paw Press will interview a SMUD representative for their student-produced video news segment.
Year round, SMUD’s Community Education & Technology Center offers students, instructors and the public opportunities to engage in clean energy education in an interactive way through workshops and special events.
