SMUD Giving Monday Coat Drive at Cal Expo
Donate winter coats to those in need
In partnership with the Sacramento Kings and as part of its ongoing community giving efforts, SMUD is sponsoring Giving Mondays at Cal Expo, an effort to collect needed coats for Loaves and Fishes and the Mustard Seed School. SMUD Giving Monday Coat Drive will accept new and used coats for all ages.
“SMUD Giving Mondays is one of the ways we give back to those in our community who need it most,” said Director of Community Engagement Rhonda-Staley Brooks. “We’re glad to provide warmth this holiday season to our most vulnerable, and proud that so many of our employees value the spirit of giving.”
People can easily donate needed coats through our drive-thru or purchase needed items on this Amazon wish list.

Loaves & Fishes
As the largest homeless service provider in Sacramento, Loaves & Fishes is a 501(c)(3), charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to providing warm meals, essential survival supplies and services for nearly 1,000 adults and children daily. To keep our services barrier-free, we do not solicit or accept government funds and are supported instead, by the investment of individual and private donations from the greater Sacramento community. In the spirit of radical hospitality modeled after activist and leader of the Catholic Worker Movement, Dorothy Day, we refer to people seeking our services as “guests” creating a space of welcome, respite, and belonging.
