Transitioning our power sources to clean, renewable energy sources

SMUD’s 2030 zero carbon goal is the most aggressive carbon reduction goal of any large utility in the country, and new solar, storage, wind, hydro power and other renewable energy sources play a foundational role in helping us reach our goal.  We’re focused on reimagining our existing generation portfolio, which is already about 50% carbon free. However, we won’t compromise our guardrails of affordable rates and reliable power.

In this episode of Road to Zero series, we meet Power Generation Director Joel Ledesma, who, alongside his team, plans and oversees the development and construction of new generation assets. Learn how we’re supporting the transition of our power sources to clean, renewable energy sources, which are of critical importance to our 2030 zero carbon goal.
