Become a SEED vendor

If your small business headquarters is located within our service area, you may qualify for contracting incentives as a Supplier Education and Economic Development (SEED) vendor!

3 easy steps to qualify

  1. Register as a small business with the Department of General Services (DGS).
  2. Visit smud.org/VendorPortal to set up your vendor profile. Select Vendor Registration, fill in required fields and select Sign Up. Then complete all applicable Vendor Details sections and select Submit
  3. On the Vendor Profile homepage, select SEED Application and complete all applicable information. Select Certify and then Submit.

Once all 3 steps are complete, we'll email you with confirmation of your SEED eligibility and status within 2-3 business days of your registration.

Incentives

Qualified SEED contractors who bid on open solicitations may receive up to a 5% price advantage (maximum $250,000*). Non-SEED prime contractors also can qualify for a price advantage by utilizing SEED subcontractors.

*Based on the lowest responsible bid received.

Qualified SEED prime contractors who bid on open requests for proposal (RFP) solicitations may receive up to 10 evaluation points. Non-SEED prime contractors can also qualify for this a point advantage by utilizing  SEED subcontractors.
SMUD may offer bidding and contracting opportunities (up to $82,000) or multi-year service agreements (not to exceed $246,000) exclusively to SEED participants.
