Enrollment is quick and easy. Please read our Customer Service Agreement and complete our online enrollment form.

Once you're enrolled in HomePower for six weeks, you can request electrical repairs for covered services.

A SMUD electrical contractor will evaluate your request to determine if it's a covered service. Submit a new request.

A low monthly fee of $7.50, added to your bill,
covers you for up to $500 in electrical repairs per calendar year.

How long will it take for a technician to be assigned?
A SMUD contractor will contact you within 2 business days.
 
Is there a limit to how many requests I can submit or how many repairs are covered?
Only one service request may be open at a time, per location, but HomePower includes up to $500 in covered electrical repairs per calendar year.
 
What if I need a service that isn't covered by HomePower?
For non-covered work, please contact your HomePower contractor directly. With HomePower, you'll get 15% off the regular rate. For service panel repair or replacement, you'll get 20% off the regular rate.
 
Is there a required enrollment period?
The initial subscription is for 12 months, then it’s month to month after that. If you've fulfilled your 12-month subscription but no longer want the service, please email customer service to end your enrollment.
 
What if my repair or replacement requires a permit?
If any permits are required, your HomePower contractor will take care of it. Permit and inspection fees are covered by HomePower and will be deducted from your $500 annual limit.
 
Can I sign up my rental properties?
HomePower is available to owner-occupants and landlord owners of single-family dwellings.
