SMUD hosts inaugural Connecting our Communities Resource Expo

Dozens of community partners offering vital support services

On Thursday, SMUD will host its first Connecting our Communities Resource Expo, offering community members the opportunity to connect with essential support services and resources designed to ease financial challenges. The welcoming format enables in-person engagement with SMUD experts and community partners for discussions about tailored solutions that align with individual needs, simplifying the path to finding the right answers.

SMUD Customer Service Center, 6301 S Street, Sacramento

200-plus community members, 25 community organizations, county, city service and nonprofit groups, SMUD Board Vice President Rosanna Herber and SMUD staff

 

SMUD is collaborating with 25 community organizations, including county and city services and nonprofit groups, to offer information and help with over a dozen essential support services, including healthcare, counseling, affordable housing, utility discounts, legal advice, home repair and weatherization, education, food resources, childcare, veteran services, transportation assistance, job information, library access, financial assistance and more.

Attendees will also learn about SMUD’s Energy Assistance Program, Energy Saver Bundles, MED Rate and other resources that help customers save on energy costs and participate in green energy solutions.

The Resource Expo includes family-friendly STEM activities where kids learn about solar energy and UV radiation, creating solar bracelets to detect UV rays. The event will also feature cooking demos with a chef who will highlight induction stovetops and discuss SMUD rebates and programs that promote green careers.
