Students across the region compete in SMUD’s annual Youth Energy Summit
Dozens of student teams compete for scholarships
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — This Saturday, Dec. 7, as part of SMUD’s Youth Energy Summit (YES), students will come together to demonstrate community service projects that address climate change in their own communities.
YES is an opportunity for students to have a voice in addressing climate change. In September, students attended a 3-day summit, where they learned from industry professionals and researchers about climate, water, cultural burns and SMUD's 2030 Carbon Plan.
For the past two and a half months, students have been working on community service projects about how they will make an impact on their local community with regards to zero carbon and sustainability. There will be a poster session open to the public and then judging will take place in the judge's room.
Teams across the Sacramento region will go in front of judges in hopes of winning a $2,000 scholarship at this year’s Youth Energy Summit competition.
