SMUD’s Powering Futures college scholarship application now open
SMUD announced today that the application period for its Powering Futures college scholarship and internship program is now open. The program awards up to 21 scholarships of up to $5,000 each to undergraduate students who are enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year college or university. Students must live in SMUD’s service area or have a legal guardian who is a SMUD customer.
The awards are based on academic merit and financial need, and preference will be given to students who have declared a major relevant to SMUD. Some scholarships may also include a paid internship at SMUD in 2021 or 2022.
The deadline to apply for the scholarships is March 1, 2021. Scholarships are for the 2021/2022 academic year.
“The Powering Futures program is another way we’re supporting access to education in our community,” said SMUD CEO and General Manager Paul Lau. “We’re investing in the next generation because these students will directly contribute to the long-term success of the Sacramento region.”
