SMUD and Plug In America partner to provide free one-on-one support for customers switching to electric vehicles
The SMUD EV Support Program makes the transition to driving electric simple by answering consumer questions related to electric vehicles
SMUD customers can now easily switch to clean, efficient electric vehicles (EV) with free help through a new enhanced EV Support Program, presented by Plug In America. The EV Support Program provides free personalized phone or email assistance to customers regarding electric vehicles, charging, incentives and any other topic related to EVs. Plug In America’s team includes EV experts with decades of experience.
“This partnership will allow us to ease the transition to clean vehicles for our customers, thus increase their use in the Sacramento region,” said SMUD CEO and General Manager Paul Lau. “Increasing the use of clean fuel vehicles will enhance community sustainability, health and clean air.”
Through this new partnership, SMUD customers will have free, unlimited access to the SMUD EV Support Program Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The EV Support Program team is also able to answer detailed questions specific to the needs of Sacramento residents, including information about SMUD’s programs and incentives related to EVs. Plug In America also has created an EV Buyers’ Guide for Sacramento residents so customers have the best practices on purchasing an EV, including dealer negotiations.
This program expands upon the partnership between Plug In America and SMUD, which has already included the EV shopping website SMUD.PlugStar.com and Plug In America’s PlugStar dealer training in Sacramento, which ensures that EV customers have a positive shopping experience at the dealership.
“Electric vehicles not only create cleaner air, but they are also fun to drive and save consumers money on fuel and maintenance,” said Joel Levin, executive director of Plug In America. “We are very excited to help even more Sacramento residents discover the many benefits of driving electric.”
The EV Support Program is currently available nationwide by contacting 1 (877) EV-HELP-1 or emailing support@pluginamerica.org. Outside of Sacramento, the first inquiry is free, and is available beyond that through a contribution to Plug In America. More information is available at PlugInAmerica.org/ev-support-program/.
