SMUD Board President, community plant trees at Carmichael Park

On Thursday, SMUD, Kiwanis Club of Carmichael and other community members will gather for a tree planting event to help clean the air and provide more shade at Carmichael Park.

What: Tree planting event for The Giving Tree Project in Carmichael 
When: Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Where: Carmichael Park, 5750 Grant Avenue
Who: SMUD Board of Director's President Heidi Sanborn, Kiwanis Club of Carmichael, Sacramento Tree Foundation, Carmichael Recreation and Park District and volunteers

Dozens of volunteers will join SMUD, Kiwanis Club of Carmichael, Sacramento Tree Foundation and the Carmichael Recreation and Park District.
Since 1990, SMUD and its partners have helped plant more than 600,000 shade trees in the Sacramento area. A healthy tree canopy cools homes and buildings during hot weather and can also help lower utility bills, store carbon for healthier air while providing other community-wide benefits. 
SMUD's 2030 Zero Carbon Plan aims to decarbonize the region's power supply, improve air quality and support customers in participating in activities that reduce their carbon footprints.
