Visitor policy for domestic visitors
All domestic visitors are required to have at least 1 piece of List A identification to enter any SMUD facility.
List A
- U.S. passport or passport card
- REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or ID card
- Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL)
- U.S. Military ID or dependent ID
- Federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) or Common Access Card (CAC)
- U.S. Department of State driver’s license
- Federally recognized tribal photo ID
- Law enforcement credentials
If a visitor can't provide List A identification, please reach out to Security Operations to ensure all required information is submitted at least 30 days prior to the visit.
Visitor policy for foreign nationals and/or delegations
For foreign nationals or delegations visiting a SMUD facility, please provide the following IDENTITY information to Cybersecurity and Security Operations at least 30 days prior to the visit:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Passport number
- Passport country
- Country of origin
- Organization
Host responsibilities
- Ensure the visit has a valid business purpose.
- Determine whether the visitor(s) has a List A document.
- Coordinate with Cybersecurity@smud.org and PhysicalSecurity@smud.orgs for instruction on how to transmit PII securely.
- For foreign delegations and/or international conferences, include SMUDInternationalVisitors@smud.org.
- Ensure approval, conditional approval or rejection is received before the visit occurs.
- Serve as the escort or designate an authorized SMUD escort.
Visitor responsibilities
- Upon arrival at any SMUD facility, all visitors must present government-issued identification to Security.
- Any visitors, foreign or domestic, must provide List A documentation or a valid passport that matches their identity information.
- If the identity cannot be verified, access may be denied.
