Do Business with SMUD

hands shakingContracting opportunities

The District offers programs to provide equal opportunity to all segments of the business community. More

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District provides contracting opportunities for companies large and small. SMUD has put in place procedures to ensure that contracts are handled and awarded in a fair manner while supporting the District's mission of meeting the electricity and energy-services needs of our customer-owners safely, dependably, economically and in an environmentally responsible manner while providing value to the community.

Requests for bids, or proposals for products or services, are listed online, and related documents can be downloaded. A contract (or purchase/service order) is awarded as a result of direct call, informal bid or formal bid (proposal) based on the estimated price. (Get a more detailed explanation of the buying procedure.)

If you are interested in receiving solicitations (request for bids or proposals) from SMUD for the product(s) or service(s) that you provide, please register online:

  • Register to receive solicitation notices for your product(s) or service(s)
  • View or download list of current solicitations

SMUD's Supply Chain Services office is located on the second floor of the District's headquarters building at 6201 S St., Sacramento, 95817-1899. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Sales representatives are encouraged to schedule visits in advance by appointment with a member of the District procurement staff.
