How to become a SMUD participating contractor
Sacramento Municipal Utility District provides a list of participating contractors to our residential customers seeking SMUD rebates and/or financing on energy efficiency upgrades to their homes. Only measures installed by participating contractors are eligible.

Minimum program requirements include:
- Active, current contractor’s specialty license for the measures you are requesting to install
- Certificates of insurance indicating acceptable levels of liability, auto, and workmen’s compensation insurance meeting SMUD’s minimum requirements (see insurance requirements in your packet)
- Evidence that your company has 2 years in business installing the equipment or product, or evidence of equivalent experience
- Adherence to SMUD’s Contractor Participation Agreement and installation specifications
If you would like to apply to participate in SMUD’s rebate and financing programs, please download the package (from list on right) appropriate to the measures you are licensed to install, provide the necessary information and documentation, and mail the package to SMUD at the address below. You will be notified when you have been accepted to participate.
As the package forms may contain sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, we ask that you not e-mail completed forms to SMUD.
