Help with your bill
We know customers may experience financial hardship during this time. We want to help. For those that can, thank you for paying your bill on time.
Not shutting off power for non-payment
We know how challenging things are right now and we’re here to help. Extended through January 4, 2021, we will not disconnect your power due to non-payment. And we won't add late fees to your bill. We want all of our residential and commercial customers to have power at this time.
Customers who are behind on payment will still owe SMUD for service, they will just not lose power at this time.
Eligible low-income customers can apply online for our Energy Assistance Program Rate which provides a monthly discount based on household size and income. We’ve recently adjusted our guidelines so more customers can qualify.
To make it easier to pay your bill, we offer several payment arrangement options for qualified customers including installments and minimum payments. See if you qualify in My Account.
For those who can, thank you for paying your bill on time. There are several safe and easy ways to pay your bill. Online options include My Account, our guest pay option and the SMUD App. Or you can visit one of our authorized pay stations.
We're doing everything we can to help make things a little easier during these difficult times. We'll get through this, together.
The safety of our community is a top concern. Learn how we're keeping you and our crews safe, including the closure of all SMUD buildings to the public.
How you can help
If you can, pay your bill on time. You can also help neighbors in need by donating $1 or more monthly through EnergyHELP.
We know many in our local business community are struggling. In addition to not disconnecting your power for non-payment, we've put together a variety of helpful resources.
STEAM educational resources
To help those who are homeschooling children, we're bringing you fun, energy-focused activities for your study-at-home learners. New lessons for K-12 students are added weekly.
