Opt-in to SMUD's Greenergy® for a cleaner environment
In addition, 40 percent of your Greenergy® contributions will be used to develop new, local renewable energy sources. To date, Greenergy® customers have built:
- Wind: 3 Turbines at the SMUD Solano Wind Farm.
- Water: Rebuilt the Slab Creek dam on the Upper American River.
Solano Wind facility provides the cleanest electricity of all the Greenergy® projects. Greenergy® participants contributed to the development of three 660 KW wind turbines located in the windy Delta in Solano County.
Slab Creek is a small hydro generation facility located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada at Slab Creek Reservoir. Slab Creek is a unique facility that generates up to 400 KW from its discharge into the South Fork of the American River.
Arden Fair Mall Solarport is the most visible of the Greenergy® installations. 28 KW of solar arrays face Arden Way at the main entrance to the mall. The system provides shaded parking and clean renewable power from the sun.
Since 1997, more than 53,000 SMUD households have joined Greenergy. That's like planting more than 300,000 acres of trees or taking nearly 275,000 gas engine cars off the road.**
The Greenergy® sign-up form will be available again soon.
