Please note: Currently the Peak Corps program is closed and not accepting new participants.
Peak Corps is a volunteer program of more than 93,000 SMUD customers. By allowing SMUD to install a cycling device on their central air-conditioning unit the participants help SMUD reduce electric system load and maintain a reliable system during emergencies. If an emergency situation does occur a radio signal can be sent out to switch off (or cycle) members central air conditioning units. Cycling can occur anytime, but most likely between June and September.
If SMUD would need to cycle participants air conditioning units, members would receive the $2 through $6 cycling day credits based upon their selected cycling level.
