SMUD employees volunteer to deliver for Meals on Wheels

Nearly 90 SMUD employees and their families, more than 200 volunteers in all, will prepare and deliver 500 holiday meals for Sacramento area residents on Thanksgiving morning. About 40 additional employees and their families will deliver the Meals on Wheels along with some holiday cheer to needy folks throughout Sacramento County.


Hundreds of Thanksgiving meals being prepared and packaged assembly line style by SMUD Employees’ Association (SEA) volunteers who will load and deliver them.


TOMORROW, Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2017


7:00 a.m. – Preparation of the meal packages
8:30 a.m. – Employees begin loading and delivering the meals

For 19 years, the SMUD Employees’ Association has enthusiastically embraced the effort of preparing and delivering hearty Meals on Wheels to Sacramento County residents who would not otherwise be able to have a holiday meal on Thanksgiving Day..

Nearly 1,500 SMUD employees voluntarily participate in the SEA, a non-profit organization that promotes fraternity and fellowship among members by conducting educational, social and recreational activities.
