SMUD Powering Futures college scholarship application period now open
SMUD announced today that the application period for its Powering Futures college scholarship program is now open. The program awards up to 21 scholarships of up to $5,000 each to undergraduate students who are enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year college or university. Students must live in SMUD’s service area or have a legal guardian who is a SMUD customer.
The awards are based on academic merit and financial need, and preference will be given to students who have declared a major relevant to SMUD. Some scholarships may also include a paid internship at SMUD in 2020 or 2021.
The deadline to apply for the scholarships is April 17, 2020. Scholarships are for the 2020/2021 academic year.
“The Powering Futures program is another way we’re working to improve educational access in our community,” said SMUD CEO & General Manager Arlen Orchard. “We’re investing in Sacramento’s youth because we believe that many of these students will contribute directly to the long-term success of our region.”
