Shade Trees: Preparation

You can either watch shade tree information presentation online or call SMUD at 1.888.742.7683 to request that the video be sent to you at no charge.
Schedule a Forester's Visit
After you watched the information, make an appointment with a Sacramento Tree Foundation community forester to visit your yard to help you choose the best trees and locations for shading and cooling your home.
Delivery
Your free trees, stakes, ties, and fertilizer will be delivered to your front door -- usually within 10 days. If you plant and care for them, your trees will begin to provide shade for your home within a few years.
