The LEA International HSPC extended residential warranty and equipment protection plan extends the basic product warranty and the equipment protection. When the LEA HSPC surge protection device is installed by a utility authorized installer or a licensed contractor, the product warranty and equipment protection plan described below is valid for a period of 20 years from the date installed.
If the LEA International Home Surge Protection Center (HSPC) fails and a transient voltage/surge current passes through any of the HSPC protected paths (A/C power, cable coax, or telephone line) and causes damage to properly connected equipment, LEA will replace or pay to repair the equipment that is damaged.
Warranty is subject to the conditions below
LEA HSPC protection device must be installed by a licensed electrician. Building wiring and other connections to protected equipment must conform to applicable codes (NEC or CEC). No other ground wires or ground connections may be used. All wires (including telephone lines, signal/data lines, coaxial cable) leading into the protected equipment must pass through the single LEA device. The equipment to be protected must be indoors in a dry location, with no other paths of electrical surge entry, and in the same building which is protected by the HSPC.
Within 30 days after discovery of any damage to protected equipment, the homeowner must contact the electric utility or its authorized service center. Further instructions will then be provided.
The failed surge suppression device must be returned with a letter explaining how and when the failure occurred. Included in the letter must be an advisement of damages to connected equipment and a supporting estimate or repair bill from an authorized service center.
Unless waived by LEA, the damaged equipment must be sent to our Tampa facility for inspection. Shipping charges are the responsibility of the customer and will be reimbursed with approved claims. LEA reserves the right to inspect the customer's facility. Damaged part(s) will be available until the claim is finalized.
The LEA protection device must show signs of surge damage, or must be performing outside of design specifications.
Once LEA has determined that the customer is entitled to compensation, LEA will, at its election, pay the present fair market value of the damaged equipment, or pay for the cost of the repair, or send replacement equipment.
LEA International's liability will not exceed $5,000 for any one piece of equipment or $2,000,000 in damages for any one installation location. Medical and life support equipment is expressly excluded.
