Let SMUD help you turn that waste into cold, hard cash. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3:
1. Call SMUD's contracted recycler, JACO at 1-800-299-7573 or click here to schedule a date to pick up your old, operating refrigerator or freezer.
2. JACO will haul away and recycle your old, operating refrigerator or freezer for free.
3. You'll receive a $35 incentive check in the mail, and you'll start saving money on your electric bill.
By recycling, you'll help preserve resources and prevent contaminants from getting into the landfill.
Program details
- You must be a SMUD residential customer.
- Your old refrigerator or freezer must be in working condition.
- Refrigerator/freezer unit must be within 10 and 27 cubic feet.
- Limit two units per residential address.
- Customer must own the unit(s) being recycled.
- Program is funded by SMUD and is available on a first-come, first-served basis through Dec. 31, 2008, or until funding is depleted.
- A $35 incentive check will be mailed four to six weeks after the appliance collection.
