Insulation program
SMUD's insulation program can keep your home comfortable all year round.
Here are a couple of signs that your house needs more insulation:
- Your home is too cool in the winter and too hot in the summer.
- Your heating and cooling bills seem unusually high.
SMUD offers 100 percent unsecured financing payable over three years for attic and wall insulation.
- Only residences in SMUD's service area are eligible for SMUD's insulation program.
- Insulation must be purchased and installed by a contractor from SMUD's participating contractors list.
- Costs will vary with materials, levels and installation issues. Many contractors offer a variety of materials and prices, so it is wise to get more than one estimate.

- R-39 is the maximum that is eligible for financing.
