Cool Roof: Contactor information
and sign-up
Cool Roof is contractor-driven program. Contractors are encouraged to sign-up for SMUD's innovative Cool Roof program and be listed on the SMUD list of participating Cool Roof contractors. Homeowners are free to select any licensed contractors for the cool roof project and be eligible to receive the SMUD rebate and SMUD financing.
Residential Cool Roof program will require that contractors provide a proof of license (copy of C-39 or General Contractor license) before SMUD would list that contractor.
Payment
Incentives under this program will be paid by SMUD to the property owners on a "first come, first served" basis while program funds are available, and will be determined based on the date SMUD receives a complete and accurate invoice including all supporting documentation.
SMUD's obligation to pay any incentive under this agreement is expressly conditioned on the availability of funding.
SMUD will provide 30-day written notice to all participating contractors that SMUD funds to pay the incentive are being exhausted.

For incentive payment for the Residential Cool Roof Program, disclaimer of warranties and authorization for Cool Roof inspections:
The Rebate Form must be completed and signed by the building owner to qualify for the Cool Roof Program incentive payment.
The Rebate Form must be submitted to SMUD after the project is completed, and thus the completed project could be inspected by SMUD staff and incentive money could be processed.
At the end of the project completion , the copies of the invoice (or contract between the contractor and property owner) AND Roofing Permit from the County or City for this roofing project must be submitted to SMUD (in addition to completed Rebate Form) at the following address:

Cool roof sign-up for contractors
Contractors can sign up for the Cool Roof Program by either calling 916-732-6484 or e-mailing with the following information:
- Business name
- Contact name
- Contractor's license number
- Address
- Business phone
Residential Cool Roof program
SMUD is offering 20 cents per square foot rebate for low slope or flat roofs and 10 cents per square foot rebate for steep slope roofs. SMUD customers who own single-family homes, multi-family buildings or mobile homes are eligible to participate. SMUD customers need to install Energy Star® cool roof products that meet the SMUD solar reflectivity and emissivity standards and the roofing projects must be the retrofit projects (no new construction).
