Environmental protection

Environmental Protection is a core value at SMUD, and the Board of Directors has directed staff to promote practices that will minimize our impact on our environment, conserve natural resources and reward environmentally conscious manufacturers and contractors while remaining fiscally responsive. In support of this core value, SMUD will purchase environmentally preferable products over less environmentally preferable products if price, quality (including servicability) and availability are equal.

SMUD is developing an environmental procurement policy to promote these activities.
