Motors & Process Improvement Incentives |
Customized incentives for motors greater than 200 horsepower and control systems
$0.08/kWh and $100/kWh
Up to 30 percent of project cost or $150,0000, whichever is less.
The demand (kW) reduction incentive will be paid only for projects that reduce electrical demand for at least one hour daily between 4 and 7 p.m., summer weekdays. Incentives paid for peak demand reduction will be pro-rated for projects that do not reduce electrical demand for the entire 4-7 p.m. time period.

- Motor upgrades (>200 HP)
- Variable-speed drives (e.g., on industrial fans, industrial pumps, and on air compressor motors)
- Industrial process applications
- Industrial fan replacements
- Industrial pump replacements
- Trimming impellers on industrial fans and pumps
- Water flow controls resulting in electric savings
- Exhaust hood and fan projects
- Dairy Vacuum Pumps/ Variable-speed drives
- Pulse cooling devices for injection molding machines
- Injection molding machines
- Professional wet cleaning equipment
- Data Center Cooling Improvement*
All projects require SMUD approval prior to installation
* These systems will be reviewed on a case by case basis for approval.
