Maximum power point tracker and operational dispatch
Purpose
The contractor, SMA America, will develop a grid-feeding inverter with maximum power point tracking and backup power capabilities. Develop a remote dispatchability capability for renewable power systems. (Project 4.2)
Potential benefit
Increase availability of a low-cost energy conversion system that maximizes the value of renewable energy systems to both owners and utilities. Project will demonstrate economic value of dispatchable energy storage functions in renewable energy systems.
Scope of work
- Combine the benefits of grid-tied MPPT inverters with backup power and operational dispatch.
- Increases conversion efficiency of inverters with energy storage.
