Flat-roof mounting approaches
Purpose
The contractor, RWE Schott Solar, will develop new mounting approaches for PV that can easily be mounted on a flat roof, eliminating the use of additional ballast materials and minimizing roof penetrations. Designs will be aimed at low cost, ease of assembly, modularity and adaptability to a wide range of uses. (Project 3.4)
Potential benefit
Will provide purchasers with a greater choice of PV systems with reduced installation cost.
Scope of work
- Develop design concept that best meets current market requirements.
- Develop optimum manufacturing / installation process.
- Fabricate a prototype set of mounting hardware with which to complete a demonstration installation to verify the costs and methods developed in the project.
