Assessment of worst-case weather conditions
Purpose
The contractor will develop data that will allow PV to be used in mission-critical applications such as renewable-based air-conditioning systems and PV-powered lighting systems. (Project 1.5)
Potential benefit
Enable SMUD to develop niche-market PV systems for signage and other outdoor lighting applications. Also, enable the development of PV-powered air-conditioning systems that can deliver adequate cooling 100 percent of the time.
Scope of work
- Obtain National Weather Service data for Sacramento.
- Determine maximum historical number of consecutive cloudy days, worst-case month, and worst-case two-month periods.
- For summer weather, determine worst-case one-day outdoor air conditions for temperature and humidity.
