Utility system capability & customer demand value
Purpose
NREL and Clean Power Research will perform a detailed assessment of the value of customer-owned and utility-owned PV to utilities. (Project 1.3)
Potential benefit
Will encourage utilities to integrate distributed PV generation with direct load control, generation planning and demand-side management.
Scope of work
- Study such benefit factors as generation credit based on marginal costs and demand-side management, transmission and distribution system benefits, environmental benefits, reduced electricity price risk, government incentives and new business opportunities.
- Analyze orientation benefit for enhancing peak demand match of PV.
- Determine how to maximize peak capacity value of PV by coordinating direct customer load control (DLC) and PV generation.
