Accelerated anaerobic composting
Purpose
The contractor, Yolo County Planning & Public Works, will demonstrate a full-scale landfill bioreactor with accelerated anaerobic digestion from injection and circulation of water into the landfill. (Project 2.1)
Potential benefit
More efficient production of methane gas for electricity generation, more complete capture of the methane eliminating emissions to the atmosphere, and quicker reduction of mass at the landfill, allowing longer continued use of landfill sites
Scope of work:
- This project will construct the landfill gas collection and removal system, leachate recirculation and pumping system and final cover system.
- Perform sample collection to determine methane potential.
- Add liquid to waste, collect gases and monitor the methane emissions.
