SMUD has taken an aggressive approach to educating and informing the public about the values and importance of electric transportation. SMUD has developed partnerships with local schools and organizations to conduct seminars and outreach programs. Through this interactive approach, SMUD is able to showcase the many features and benefits of electric transportation and the technology's positive impact on the environment.

EV demonstration program
Since 1990, SMUD has worked with electric vehicle manufacturers to make EVs available to consumers and fleet users. SMUD currently has a fleet of electric vehicles available to demo from manufacturers such as GM, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota and Honda.
