Lighting incentives
Customized incentives for lighting systems and controls
Maximum incentive: 30 percent of project cost OR $35,000 per account, whichever is less.
- Based on difference between Title 24 State Energy Code allowances and the installed lighting load. The installed lighting load must exceed Title 24 requirements by 10 percent to qualify for an incentive of $.05 per kilowatt-hour.
- If the existing lighting system already exceeds Title 24 requirements, the existing wattage/sq. foot lighting density will be used as the baseline.
- Lighting controls will be eligible for $.05 per kilowatt-hour.
- Traffic LED retrofit projects and other non-Title 24 lighting will be eligible for an incentive of $.03 per kilowatt-hour. Maximum incentive: 30 percent of project cost OR $25,000 per account, whichever is less.
- Outdoor architectural lighting, parking lot lighting, and security lighting are eligible for incentives if they are on during the SMUD peak usage period between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, June through September.

Prescriptive lighting incentives for small businesses
Maximum incentive: $20,000 per customer location
Available for small commercial customers with total load of 300 kilowatts or less. More.
Exterior off-peak lighting is not eligible.
T12 retirement incentives: 50 percent of project cost or up to $150,000 per affected account. Available for commercial customers using 300 kW or more. More.
