2006 SMUD budget

A budget for 2006 was adopted by the SMUD Board of Directors. Highlights include completion of the 500-megawatt Cosumnes Power Plan, major progress on the 85 megawatt Solano wind expansion and significant investment in service reliability projets. 2008 Planned Rate Action

In 2007 the SMUD Board of Directors approved a average rate increase of 7 percent to go into effect in January 2008. For more information, see The General Manager's Rate Report.

Public Good report 2006

SMUD has a long history of public goods programs that benefit the community. These programs include:

  • Discounted rates for customers who qualify as low income and those who are dependent on medical equipment.
  • Energy-efficiency programs such as offering free shade trees and energy audits and working with builders to make new homes and businesses more energy efficient.
  • Renewable energy resources and technologies such as wind and solar power.
  • The development and demonstration of advanced science or technologies.

SMUD's commitment to public good programs in 2005 was $40.2 million.
